Woolfolk Productions Inc. Signs Upcoming Author Daniella Maison
Woolfolk Productions Inc is pleased to announce the signing of author Daniella Maison and her hard hitting musings The N Word and The Expose.
‘Maison's sharp and unforgiving tongue goes right at the heart of the matter: the legacy of rap culture that attacks women has a very real impact on our lives. The "brutal conquering" of the (Black and brown) female body, traced through history and deep into today's lyrics and imagery, can no longer be dismissed or watered down for popular consumption. Responses to sexism must be more than a whisper or a prayer, and Maison gives us what we need: sharp, spot-on critique, astute analysis, and agency in hip-hop culture, where words are not empty, but full of possibility. Hers is a voice which must be heard.’
- Dr. Rachel Raimist, Co-Editor of Home Girls Make Some Noise!: Hip-Hop Feminism Anthology and Director of Nobody Knows My Name (1999), the first documentary about women in hip hop.
